About BarBrief
The Story Behind BarBrief
Hi, I’m Jessica Kabuli, founder of BarBrief by Jessica.
I passed both Ontario bar exams on my first attempt in the summer of 2026, and I am currently an articling student working at a Bay Street Law Firm.
I created BarBrief to give future candidates what I needed during my own preparation: comprehensive, clearly organized notes that make a demanding volume of material easier to understand and navigate.

It started with seven weeks and two exams.
With just seven weeks to prepare for both the Barrister and Solicitor exams, I knew every study session had to count.
Finding resources that suited the way I learned proved difficult. Some notes were too condensed to provide the detail I needed. Others relied on dense, technical language that left me spending more time deciphering concepts than understanding them.
I tried different study methods, read extensively, and went through almost a highlighter a day. Yet the next morning, much of what I had studied felt unfamiliar.
I needed a way to turn all that reading into something I could understand, retain, and find quickly during the exams.
So I built my own notes from scratch, page by page.
Working through the official materials, I covered every section and broke down the concepts into plain English and structured bullet points.
I paid just as much attention to presentation: clear headings, consistent formatting, and a visually organized layout that made key information easy to spot.
These became the notes I used to prepare for and pass both exams on my first attempt.
When I shared them with friends and classmates, every person in that group who used them also passed on their first attempt.
Seeing the notes support others inspired me to make them available to more candidates.
That is how BarBrief by Jessica began.
Built from my own experience, BarBrief brings together comprehensive coverage, accessible language, and thoughtful organization.
My goal is to help you spend your study time understanding the material and approach exam day with greater clarity and confidence.
The Best Bar Prep Begins with a Better Brief.
